The Lake Murray Kiwanis Club
56 Years of
erving the Children of the World"

The Lake Murray Annual Children's Party was held once again at PatrickHenry High School.
Our usual group of children 1st graders from our local area schools had breafast of Pacakes, orange juice and hot cocoa.
The Patrick Henry High School band entertained the children whit holiday music. Then the cheerleaders painted the little faces and the Key club placed tatoos one everyne even themselves the while the cheerleaders painted their faces. Santa joined the fun with a grand entrance interupting all the festivities. He was given hugs and kisses along with some pretty nice notes. Santa finally made it in to the auditoriun where toys were stacked ont the stage for everyone to see. Each child was escourted to visit Santa to share wishes and secrets. After a visit with the big man each child had time to choose an unwrapped gift. as you can see from the photos the choices were hard with such a variety of things to go through. No-one was hurried, as each has a chaprone to help with the decision.
We would like to thank all the volunteers who graciously took the time on a Saturday morning to make a child happy.
The Cheerleaders, ROTC, PHHS Key Club, The Band Members and the Grosssmont Key Club and the staff of Patrick Henry,
Mr. Ortler and all the Adult who participated. Especially Lake Murray Kiwanis Club who Sponsored the whole event.

Learn to SURF and Eat PANCAKES Kiwanis Style!
Operation AMPED Surf day was our annual Saturday project. August 12, 2017
Our members, Mike, Dan, Cathy, Gary & Mary, & Ginger and friends went to
Camp Pendelton to help cook and feed the surfers, their families and all the,
teacher volunteers, who were teaching our military guys learn to surf!
The sun, sand, and friendly people not to forget those great Kiwanis Pacakes!
This is a really fun event for every one who participated.

In past years we donated sand chairs to help get the guys across the sand
to the beach. It is a real thrill to see them getting out there riding those waves.
Thank you to Gary Mntoya to his devotion and service to our Veterans!

Past Events MTRP Service hours:
On November 5th local Kiwanis clubs, Lake Murray, La Mesa, and Fletcher Hills Clubs along with their
sponsored youth, Circle K, Key clubs, and Boy Scout Troop 950, helped clean up the Mesa Rd. trail head
at the north end of Lake Murray Boulevard. They trimmed trees removed non- native species of plants and
picked up trash to fill 3 pick up truck beds for disposal. Non native plants need to be removed to prevent
the native plants from being choked out of the park. The brush was cut back for visitor safety and fire
prevention. Lake Murray Kiwanis Club continues to support Mission Trails with the help of their Boy Scout
Troop 950. The boys try to do patrol service hours and troop service hours at least once a month at the park.
